Finca El Cedral: A Legacy in the Heights
Luis Gerardo Monge and Emilia Monge are the heart behind Finca El Cedral, a coffee farm nestled in the mountains of El Cedral de Aserrí, Costa Rica.
At 1,850 meters above sea level, the Monge Quirós family has turned the challenges of the terrain into their greatest strength. With dedication and perseverance, they have sculpted terraces into the mountainside, protecting the rich soil and allowing their coffee trees to thrive in a privileged environment.

Monge Family
Luis Gerardo was a passionate coffee producer, deeply dedicated to his farm and the relentless pursuit of excellence in every harvest. Known for his hard work and love for the land, he implemented farming practices that protected the soil and ensured the highest quality coffee. His vision was always focused on sustainability and preserving his family's coffee-growing legacy. Sadly, he passed away in 2022, leaving an indelible mark on the coffee community and his family. Now, the farm continues under the leadership of Luis Fernando Monge, who carries forward his father’s legacy with the same passion and dedication.

A Legacy
Emilia Monge, his wife, is a strong and resilient woman who has taken the reins of the farm alongside their children, ensuring that Luis Gerardo’s legacy lives on. With a deep respect for tradition and unwavering determination, Emilia continues the work they started together, caring for every detail of the coffee cultivation and processing with the same love and dedication that has always defined them.
Together, Luis Gerardo and Emilia built more than just a farm—they created a home, a heritage of hard work, and a coffee that carries in every bean the story of their passion and perseverance.
